The Karns City Gremlins had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They came out on top against Union by a score of 51-39. Given Karns City's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 181st, while Union is ranked 392nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Union lost, one person who can't be blamed is Hayden Smith. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Dawson Camper, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 19 rebounds.
Karns City is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. As for Union, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-10.
Karns City will head out on the road to take on Allegheny-Clarion Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Karns City is facing Allegheny-Clarion Valley at the right time seeing as Allegheny-Clarion Valley is stuck on a six-game losing streak. Union does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
