Given Pieper's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 204th, while Canyon is ranked 567th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pieper found their leader in underclassman MAYSON THOMAS, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. THOMAS hasn't dropped below 15 points for six straight games. DONOVAN BESCH was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Pieper's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 18-10. As for Canyon, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-22.
Pieper will be playing at home against Boerne-Champion at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Canyon, they will head out on the road to challenge Smithson Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Smithson Valley has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 30.
