Baseball Recap: Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian Makes It Six in a Row on the Road

Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian lost to Russell-Tyler-Ruthton back in April, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Flying Dutchmen blew past the Knights 7-1. The result was nothing new for the Flying Dutchmen, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Trevin Prins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Nathan Hoekman, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. That's the most hits Hoekman has posted since back in April. Blake Schultz was another, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.

Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Russell-Tyler-Ruthton, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian will host Murray County Central at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Rebels will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Flying Dutchmen surely won't give up without a fight. As for Russell-Tyler-Ruthton, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Canby at 4:30 p.m.
