Cairo has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against The Westover Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Cairo's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last five matchups.
Two weeks ago, Cairo took their game at home with ease, bagging a 49-6 win over Hardaway. Cairo's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Kj Spence and Juderek Gee-simmons were among the main playmakers for Cairo as the former rushed for 114 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries and the latter threw for 189 yards and four touchdowns while completing 90.9% of his passes. R.w. Jones also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Westover got themselves on the board against Hardaway on Friday, but Hardaway never followed suit. They breezed by the Hawks on the road to the tune of 27-0.
Cairo's win was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.0 points per game. As for Westover, their win on Friday bumped their record up to 4-4.
Cairo took their victory against Westover in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 by a conclusive 28-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cairo since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
