Mission Valley recap September 17, 2013
Alec Zavala of Rosemead ran for the longest rushing play in Mission Valley this season against South last week. Zavala ran for 53 yards on the play and finished with 127 on the day as his team defeated the Spartans.
Mountain View scaled the state rankings by moving to 683 from 815 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Vikings were able to make move up by defeating Sierra Vista 34-7.
Arroyo's dynamic duo of Nathan Coto and Nico Lozano proved to be unstoppable against La Puente, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Coto threw for 412 yards and 5 touchdowns and Lozano had 217 yards receiving. David Cotero helped Arroyo's passing attack out by catching 6 balls for 74 yards.
The Knights' dynamic duo of Coto and Lozano proved tough for the Warriors to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Lozano had an awesome week catching the football as Arroyo bested La Puente.
He went 30-40 with 0 interceptions.
Lozano was the best wideout in the league this week as Jim Singiser's team beat Scott Morrison's team.
Coto put up the best numbers through the air as the Knights defeated the Warriors.
Zavala was the best running back in Mission Valley this week. Angel Lopez also contributed to the rushing game with 107 yards on the ground.
Arroyo's Coto and Lozano have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-11 quarterback Coto has thrown for 930 yards this season, while Lozano has 16 catches for 468 yards. Zavala from Rosemead leads the league in rushing with 239 yards.
South El Monte lost to Montebello 57-21 last week, the largest margin of any game. Hernan Garcia in the defeat.
