Baseball Recap: St. Francis Wins Going Away Against Cadillac

St. Francis won against Norrix last Saturday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Gladiators were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Cadillac Vikings. Considering the Gladiators have won five matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Lanse Vos spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, St. Francis let Sam Wildfong and Evan Belanger run wild. Wildfong scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Belanger scored a run while going 3-for-4. What's more, Belanger posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Kane, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.

St. Francis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

St. Francis pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Cadillac, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Looking ahead, St. Francis will head out to take on Traverse City Central at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Cadillac, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Grayling at 4:00 p.m.
