In what's become a running theme this season, the Cape Fear Colts gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They blew past Jack Britt 64-39. With Cape Fear ahead 33-13 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
It was another big night for Jayda Angel, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and ten rebounds. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Cape Fear's points. Another player making a difference was Kayia Starling, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and six steals.
Jack Britt's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dezariyah "Dezzy" Clark, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 16 rebounds. That was a full 41% of Jack Britt's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Keara Duncan was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with 12 rebounds and two blocks.
Even though they lost, Jack Britt smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Cape Fear's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.0 points per game. As for Jack Britt, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3.
Cape Fear will head out on the road to take on South View at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. South View will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Jack Britt, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Purnell Swett at 6:00 p.m. Purnell Swett is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
