The Glasgow Scotties will challenge the Larue County Hawks at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Glasgow has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Larue County will arrive with five straight victories.
Glasgow lost 14-3 to Bowling Green on Tuesday.
Glasgow saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Hodges, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Larue County got the win against Hart County on Tuesday by a conclusive 12-2. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won 11 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Cole Miller made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Miller was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted over his last seven contests.
In other batting news, Larue County let Lucas Thompson and Brayden Singleton run wild. Thompson scored three runs while going 2-for-4, while Singleton went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. What's more, Thompson posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Dekker Thomas was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
Larue County hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hart County struck out seven times.
Larue County pushed their record up to 14-2-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.0 runs over those games. As for Glasgow, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Glasgow has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Larue County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Glasgow couldn't quite get it done against Larue County in their previous matchup back in May of 2019 as they fell 5-2. Can the Scotties avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
