The New Castle Trojans posted their closest victory yet this season on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 66-63 victory over Yorktown. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Colin Taylor was his usual excellent self, scoring 25 points. Mason Miller was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Despite the loss, Yorktown still got an impressive performance from Kieran Tewari, who scored 19 points along with six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Rowray, who scored ten points.
New Castle has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 7-8 record this season. As for Yorktown, their loss dropped their record down to 8-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Castle won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Wapahani at 7:30 p.m. on January 20th. Wapahani will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. Yorktown's road trip will continue as they head out to face Winchester Community at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Winchester Community will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 280th, while Yorktown is ranked 78th).
