After a string of 14 wins, the D DME Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 61-60 to Lake Highland Prep. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Lake Highland Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lexi Blue led the charge by scoring 19 points along with six rebounds. Blue continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Camila Depool, who scored 20 points.
D's defeat ended a 12-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-1. As for Lake Highland Prep, they pushed their record up to 13-4 with that win, which was their eighth straight on the road.
D won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Dream City Christian National on January 12th. Dream City Christian National comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Lake Highland Prep, they will head out on the road to challenge Windermere Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Windermere Prep has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 397 points over their last six matches.
