Live Oak is 8-1 against Santa Teresa since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. After each having a week off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:15 p.m. Both teams are still undefeated after five games, but that won't be the case come Saturday.
Two weeks ago, Live Oak strolled past Pioneer with points to spare, taking the game 36-21. Give the Acorns' offense some serious credit: that high-scoring performance was actually the fewest points they've scored all season.

Gage Jones was his usual excellent self, rushing for 235 yards and three scores while picking up 8.7 yards per carry. Those 235 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Adrian Leal was another key player, rushing for 35 yards and one touchdown.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Live Oak was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 295 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 279 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Live Oak's defense stepped up as well, laying out Braeden Ries four times. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Anden Rogers and Messiah Luna, who each picked up 0.5 sacks apiece. Rogers was another major factor on D, picking up 0.5 sacks and making 12 total tackles.
Meanwhile, Santa Teresa's rock-solid defense showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout two weeks ago. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Oak Grove 51-0. Considering the Saints have won four contests by more than 40 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Santa Teresa's win came from a few key players Live Oak will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Salvador Guerrero, who threw for 176 yards and three TDs on only 13 passes. Another player making a difference was Brian Caldwell, who rushed for 106 yards on only seven carries.
Santa Teresa's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Live Oak, their win bumped their record up to an identical 5-0.
Live Oak and Santa Teresa were almost perfectly matched up when the teams last played back in October of 2024, but Live Oak suffered an agonizing 17-16 loss. Thankfully for the Acorns, Jaikob Wright (who rushed for 95 yards and a pair of scores) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
