Garfield and Roosevelt are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2022, but likely not for long. The Bulldogs will venture away from home to challenge the Roughriders at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Garfield's victory against Eastside Catholic wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bulldogs had just enough and edged out the Crusaders 6-4. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Crusaders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Sammy Breckenridge spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on 12 hits and racked up 11 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.3 strikeouts per game.
On the hitting side, Mae Valenta was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and one double while going 3-for-4. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Camila Ceballos-Baliga also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Garfield lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, Roosevelt made sure to put some runs up on the board against Cleveland on Monday. The Roughriders blew past the Eagles 20-2. Considering the Roughriders have won seven contests by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Perrie Ausk was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ella Spacciante, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Fiona Hsu, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.
Garfield now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Roosevelt, their record is now 14-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Garfield has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Roosevelt struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Garfield came out on top in a nail-biter against Roosevelt in their previous meeting on April 2nd, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
