The Homestead Mustangs will challenge the Los Altos Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games Homestead has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Homestead couldn't beat Piedmont Hills on Saturday even though they stacked five runs on them in the first inning. The Mustangs fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 11-10. While the Mustangs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Pirates 5-1 in the first period.
Andrew Sun was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Logan Christianson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Los Altos can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Sequoia, sneaking past 8-6.
Kai MacQuiddy made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in 11 consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Quinn Chiochios, who went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Emmett Heath, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
Los Altos kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sequoia only managed seven hits.
Los Altos' victory bumped their record up to 18-7. As for Homestead, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-14 record this season.
Homestead couldn't quite finish off Los Altos in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
