Even though the Morrow Mustangs have not done well against the Jonesboro Cardinals recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Morrow took down Jonesboro 48-31. Morrow's victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Morrow's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mikayla Dunston, who scored 16 points. The game was Dunston's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of muzic dace, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Janiya Hullett, who scored ten points along with three steals. Hullett hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Jaylin Scott, who scored no points along with eight blocks and five rebounds.
Morrow's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 9-0. As for Jonesboro, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-3.
Morrow won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Forest Park at 1:00 p.m. on December 9th. Forest Park will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 460th, while Morrow is ranked 55th). As for Jonesboro, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lovejoy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Lovejoy is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
