2A Conference 35 recap November 13, 2013
Clarke County added to the longest winning streak in 2A Conference 35 this week by beating Monroe, 42-6. The victory was the 10th in a row for the Eagles.
Luray fell to Riverheads 55-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Madison County's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. James Graves threw for 67 yards and Joe Gentry had 32 yards receiving. On the ground Demaun Minor chipped in 30 yards. Ashton Weakley helped Madison County's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 22 yards.
Gentry was the best wideout in the league this week as the Mountaineers lost to Warren County. Gentry racked up 3 receptions for 32 yards. Weakley helped Madison County's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 22 yards.
Madison County's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Mountaineers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Graves has thrown for 1,801 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while Weakley has 67 catches for 1,231 yards.
Entering into this week's contest against Wilson Memorial, Graves is short just 199 passing yards to break 2,000 on the season.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Clarke County takes on the Bulldogs. Chris Parker's team is in first place, while Luray is in third place.
Mason and Manassas Park played the most contested game in 2A Conference 35 this week, with Mason eventually emerging with a 21-20 victory.
