Space Coast is 8-2 against Titusville since February of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Space Coast Vipers will face off against the Titusville Terriers at 7:15 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Space Coast barely beat Cocoa Beach the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Space Coast's pitcher stepped up to hand Cocoa Beach a 15-0 shutout on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Vipers in their matchups with the Minutemen: they've now won eight in a row.
Paige Reynolds was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only a hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. She also put up a stolen base, which was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Jayden Marren was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. She also got a hit, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ayline Pelegri, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Space Coast always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cocoa Beach only posted an OBP of .188.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Titusville). They put the hurt on Central Florida Christian Academy with a sharp 23-8 victory on Thursday.
The team relied heavily on Alexus Pagan, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Myriah Torregrosa, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.
Space Coast pushed their record up to 3-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Titusville, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Space Coast has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Titusville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Space Coast took their win against Titusville in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 16-1. Will Space Coast repeat their success, or does Titusville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
