Basketball Recap: Syracuse's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

It was a good run, but Syracuse unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 79-69 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Copper Hills Grizzlies. The Titans were probably out for revenge after losing 65-62 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

When it comes to explaining why Syracuse lost, don't look at Carter Robinson. Despite the final result, he went 10 of 13 on his way to 24 points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Skyler Orton, who posted nine points in addition to seven boards and five assists.

Even though they lost, Syracuse was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Copper Hills only racked up 12 assists.

Copper Hills found their leader in sophomore Jacob Curtis, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 21 points along with five boards and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Curtis has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Wesley Curtis, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 16 points.

Syracuse's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Copper Hills, they pushed their record up to 9-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Syracuse didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 76-66 defeat against Layton on the 10th. As for Copper Hills, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 74-65 loss against Corner Canyon on the 10th.
