The Cochranton Cardinals were the 58-37 winner over the Cranberry Area Berries when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Cochranton took a 66-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cranberry Area. Cochranton has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Cochranton's loss on Wednesday came despite strong showings from Walker Carroll and Brady Rynd. Carroll scored 27 points along with six rebounds and four steals, while Rynd dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds. The match was Carroll's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dawson Carroll, who scored five points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Cochranton has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Cranberry Area, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cochranton will take on Union City at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Union City comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Cranberry Area, they will head out on the road to face off against East Forest at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. East Forest is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
