The Flagler Panthers were the 64-42 winner over the Lone Star Longhorns when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Flagler took a hard 57-42 fall against Lone Star on Saturday.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lexi Witt, who scored 16 points along with four steals. It was the first time this season that Witt scored 15 or more points. Belle Schier was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Lone Star found their leader in underclassman Jade Kuntz, who almost dropped a triple-double on 17 points, ten rebounds, and nine steals. Kuntz is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aleighcea Kuntz, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds.
Flagler dropped their record down to 7-11 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Lone Star, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season.
Flagler will head out on the road to face off against Otis at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lone Star, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Prairie at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Lone Star focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Saturday.
