The Trinity Shamrocks will challenge the Twin Valley Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Trinity is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.5 runs per game this season.
Trinity couldn't beat Middletown on Monday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fourth inning. The Shamrocks might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 16-6 to the Blue Raiders, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Shamrocks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Avery Robell made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Anna Sheaffer was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Twin Valley entered their tilt with Daniel Boone on Monday with 12 consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 13. They put the hurt on the Blazers with a sharp 20-3 victory. Considering the Raiders have won ten matches by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Maggie Stoltzfus was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Twin Valley got a massive performance out of Erin Cromwell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Cromwell also put up a stolen base, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Liv Eacalona, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
Twin Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in nine consecutive contests.
Twin Valley pushed their record up to 14-2 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.1 runs over those games. As for Trinity, their loss dropped their record down to 10-4.
Both Trinity and Twin Valley just can't seem to miss. The Shamrocks have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11 hits per game. However, it's not like Twin Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance. Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
