Alan Macias tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk).
At the plate, Jordan Heraldez was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Kimmel, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.
Higley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sunnyslope struck out seven times.
The victory got Higley back to even at 2-2. As for Sunnyslope, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-3.
When Higley and Sunnyslope next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Higley will try to stop Cesar Chavez's three-game winning streak when they meet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Higley's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Sunnyslope's hitters will have their work cut out for them. Similarly, Sunnyslope will face off against Perry and their four-game winning streak at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
