The Kearny Kardinals''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were beaten by Fort Lee 56-7. Kearny lost against Fort Lee in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 48-28 score last time.
Lenny Colon continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Fort Lee, rushing for 197 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries. Colon's longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards. Luke Senatore was another key contributor, throwing for 58 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes.
Kearny's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-6. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Fort Lee, Dwight Morrow, and Fair Lawn. As for Fort Lee, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
Kearny will head out on the road to face off against Hopatcong at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Fort Lee does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
