The El Paso Tigers will stay at home for another game and welcome the Canutillo Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th.
Last Tuesday, El Paso was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 47-42 to Chapin.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Amaris Ambriz, who scored 15 points along with six steals and five assists. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalia Thomas, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and seven blocks.
Meanwhile, Canutillo waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 59-9 win over Jefferson. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Canutillo has managed all season.
El Paso's defeat dropped their record down to 18-7. As for Canutillo, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season.
El Paso didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Canutillo in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, but they still walked away with a 31-25 victory. Will El Paso repeat their success, or does Canutillo have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
