After seven games on the road, Freedom is heading back home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Hylton Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Freedom will be strutting in after a victory while Hylton will be coming in after a loss.
On Saturday, Freedom narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Georgetown Day 47-45. The win was all the more spectacular given Freedom's disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 237th in Virginia, while Georgetown Day is ranked second in District of Columbia).
Freedom's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keilana Johnson, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Keilani Johnson, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Hylton's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 50-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Gar-Field.
Freedom's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Hylton, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.
Freedom was able to grind out a solid victory over Hylton in their previous meeting back in February, winning 38-26. Will Freedom repeat their success, or does Hylton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
