Make it eight blowout wins for the McCormick Chiefs this season. They blew past Whitmire 80-36 at home. The victory was familiar territory for McCormick who now have six in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead McCormick to victory, but perhaps none more so than Demontae Wideman, who scored nine points along with seven assists and seven steals. Wideman is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Terrence Cartledge, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
McCormick's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.2 points per game. As for Whitmire, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McCormick won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Abbeville at 6:00 p.m. on January 27th. Abbeville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully McCormick likes a good challenge. As for Whitmire, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Ware Shoals at 7:30 p.m.
