The Wes-Del Warriors will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Tri Titans at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Wes-Del has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Tri will arrive with three straight victories.
Last Saturday, Wes-Del came up short against Daleville and fell 60-51. While losing is never fun, Wes-Del can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 289th, while Daleville is ranked 129th).
Despite the defeat, Wes-Del got a solid performance out of Josiah Love, who scored 18 points. Trey Adams was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Tri got the win against Anderson Prep Academy on Thursday by a conclusive 59-37. With that victory, Tri brought their scoring average up to 51.1 points per game.
Tri's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Eli Murphy, who scored six points along with six steals and five assists. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryant Cornelius, who scored 19 points along with four steals.
Wes-Del has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Tri, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as both teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Wes-Del hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 52.1 points per game. However, it's not like Tri struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 51.1 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Wes-Del was taken down by Tri 70-43 when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Will Wes-Del have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
