Softball Recap: Harlan Wins Going Away Against Jenkins

While Harlan put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Jenkins. The Green Dragons put the hurt on the Cavaliers with a sharp 13-0 win. The Green Dragons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by nine runs or more this season.

Jordyn Smith made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Harlan got a massive performance out of Ella Farley, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Abby Fields was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Harlan and bumps their season record up to 12-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Jenkins, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-5 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harlan will take on Harlan County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Jenkins, they will square off against Prestonsburg at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
