This season hasn't been kind to the Hampshire Hawks, who are still winless after their tenth contest. They were dealt a 62-19 defeat at the hands of Richland on Friday. While losing is never fun, Hampshire can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 412th, while the Raiders are ranked 73rd).
Shelby Higgins was her usual excellent self, scoring 33 points along with six rebounds and five assists for Richland. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Higgins has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailey Blair, who scored 16 points along with two steals.
Hampshire's loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-10. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.4 points per game. As for Richland, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 17-5.
Hampshire will head out on the road to face off against the Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Richland, they will be playing at home against the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
