Wake Forest is 8-2 against Wakefield since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Cougars will be playing at home against the Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Wake Forest is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over Seaforth on Wednesday. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Hawks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Griffin Gerrity looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Easton Booser, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Antonio Parrino, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Wake Forest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Wakefield got themselves on the board against Enloe on Tuesday, but Enloe never followed suit. They blew past the Eagles 12-0. The matchup marked the Wolverines' most dominant victory of the season so far.
John Monahan looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk).
On the hitting side, Mikey Katz was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2025. Ryan Huisking was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Wake Forest's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Wakefield, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Wake Forest has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .488. However, it's not like Wakefield struggles in that department as they've averaged .456. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Wake Forest couldn't quite finish off Wakefield when the teams last played back in March of 2025 and fell 8-6. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
