If the Bartlett Yancey Buccaneers were feeling good off their 55-35 takedown of the North Moore Mustangs last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Bartlett Yancey took a serious blow against Southeast Alamance on Tuesday, falling 61-31. While losing is never fun, Bartlett Yancey can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 317th, while Southeast Alamance is ranked 100th).
Bartlett Yancey's loss came despite strong showings from Alexis Farrish and Jazmyne Henderson. Farrish scored 11 points along with six rebounds and three blocks, while Henderson scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Henderson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in the last three games she's played.
Bartlett Yancey struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Southeast Alamance racked up 12 assists.
Southeast Alamance's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Inysia McIver, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points McIver has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Natalie Lopez, who scored 19 points.
Bartlett Yancey now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Southeast Alamance, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Seaforth the next time they take the court. Bartlett Yancey will head out to face Seaforth at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Southeast Alamance will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
