The Leigh Longhorns waltzed into their matchup on Friday with five straight wins but they left with six. They managed a 69-65 win over Evergreen Valley. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Caleb Asante was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 32 points and 15 rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last five times he's played. Cooper Smith was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Leigh has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. As for Evergreen Valley, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 10-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leigh's road trip will continue as they head out to face Branham at 7:00 p.m. on February 13th. One thing working in Leigh's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last ten games. As for Evergreen Valley, they will head out on the road to square off against Independence at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Evergreen Valley is facing Independence at the right time seeing as Independence is stuck on a 15-game losing streak.
