Despite the loss, Indianapolis Scecina Memorial had strong showings from David Mendez, who threw for 216 yards and three touchdowns, and Keegan Ray, who picked up 113 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Ray set a new season high mark in catches with nine.
Brownstown Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lane Zike led the charge by rushing for 142 yards. Hudson Fritz also helped out with an impressive 115 receiving yards.
Indianapolis Scecina Memorial's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 5-5. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-0 Indianapolis Lutheran and 9-1 Brownstown Central (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 87.5% over those games). As for Brownstown Central, the victory was the fourth in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
Indianapolis Scecina Memorial does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Brownstown Central will head out on the road to face off against Triton Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Triton Central is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
