On Wednesday, the Antietam Mountaineers's game was all tied up 21-21 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They managed a 59-54 win over Mount Calvary Christian. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Antietam also won the last time the pair played on Wednesday.
Antietam found their leader in underclassman AJ Schiefly, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Schiefly has scored at least 25% of Antietam's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Julious Williams, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds.
Mount Calvary Christian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Zach Witmer, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Josiah Masters, who scored 14 points.
Even though they lost, Mount Calvary Christian were working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Antietam only racked up ten assists.
Antietam has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season. As for Mount Calvary Christian, their loss ended a eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-4.
Antietam's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Mount Calvary Christian at 7:00 p.m. on December 27th. Mount Calvary Christian is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 55.8 points per game. They will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Antietam at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Antietam focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Wednesday.
