Football Recap: Centennial Extends Winning Streak to Three

Centennial had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Tradition Prep Pirates with a sharp 26-0 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 21-0 back in February.

Miley McCarty looked great while leading her team to the win, throwing for 93 yards and three TDs, while also rushing for 77 yards on only nine carries. That's the most passing touchdowns she has posted since back in February.

Another reason for the win was Centennial's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Leading the way was Sara Smith with two.

Centennial's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 3.0 points on average over those games. As for Tradition Prep, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Coming up, Centennial will host Vero Beach at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Eagles 10.3, the Indians 10.1) so any points scored will be well earned. Tradition Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
