Carolina International scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They put the hurt on Queen's Grant with a sharp 55-35 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Carolina International as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Meanwhile, Valor Preparatory Academy took a serious blow against Lee Park Prep on Tuesday, falling 64-23. While losing is never fun, Valor Preparatory Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 613th, while Lee Park Prep is ranked 268th).
Despite their defeat, Valor Preparatory Academy saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jalia Borden, who scored ten points along with seven steals and five rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. That was a full 43.5% of Valor Preparatory Academy's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ameera Clark, who scored five points along with nine rebounds and seven steals.
Carolina International's win ended a 21-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-12. As for Valor Preparatory Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-13.
