There's no place like home for the Licking Valley Panthers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They took down Zanesville 57-39 on Tuesday. That's another feather in the cap for Licking Valley, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Licking Valley was led to victory by Owen Hottinger and Jacob Wheeler. Hottinger scored ten points along with seven rebounds and seven blocks, while Wheeler scored 21 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wheeler has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Vermilion, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Zanesville lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Drew Doyle, who scored eight points along with seven assists and three steals. Another player making a difference was Rashaud Hampton, who scored 17 points along with two steals.
Licking Valley pushed their record up to 7-5 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Zanesville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-7.
Licking Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against Horizon Science Academy at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Horizon Science Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday. As for Zanesville, they will head out on the road to face off against Granville at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
