The Bingham Miners will challenge the Grand County Red Devils at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Bingham is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
Bingham is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Mountain Ridge, who was ranked 14th at the time (Bingham was ranked 21st). The Miners won by a run and slipped past the Sentinels 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Miners have posted since March 26th.
Tatum Ewing was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Poleki, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Bingham hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Grand County's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Skyline by a score of 6-5.
Grand County saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaiya Moore, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Bingham pushed their record up to 12-10-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Grand County, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-10.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Bingham hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1 home runs per game. However, it's not like Grand County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Everything went Bingham's way against Grand County when the teams last played back in March of 2019, as Bingham made off with a 10-0 victory. Do the Miners have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
