Venice has won ten straight games at home (dating back to last season), while University has won ten straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The Gondoliers will host the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
University's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Wednesday: Venice hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Gondoliers' pitchers stepped up to hand Fairfax a 24-0 shutout on Monday. The Gondoliers haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

University came out on top against Westchester on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fourth inning. The Wildcats blew past the Comets 12-2.
Kayla Carpenter made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. In other batting news, Kayla Anzora was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Ditagi Smith, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Venice has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .550. However, it's not like University struggles in that department as they've averaged .445. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Venice took their victory against University in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 18-1 score. Do the Gondoliers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
