The Laguna Beach Breakers pushed their score all the way to 68 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 73-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of Newport Harbor. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Friday (58), Laguna Beach still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Laguna Beach still got an impressive performance from Dylan Mceachern, who scored 27 points. Mceachern is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Halvorson, who scored 14 points.
Laguna Beach now has a losing record at 12-13. As for Newport Harbor, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Laguna Beach will face off against Marina at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Marina presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Laguna Beach in California (Marina is ranked 90th, while Laguna Beach is ranked 234th). As for Newport Harbor, they will head out on the road to challenge Los Alamitos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Los Alamitos' favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
