It was a good run, but the Cunningham Wildcats unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They were dealt a 66-34 loss at the hands of Medicine Lodge. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Cunningham has scored all season.
Cunningham lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Will Wegerer, who scored nine points along with five rebounds. Dagim Reed was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Cunningham struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Cunningham's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Medicine Lodge, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2.
Cunningham and Kinsley will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Kinsley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 330th, while Cunningham is ranked 104th). Medicine Lodge will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Belle Plaine on February 2nd.
