Softball Recap: Downers Grove South's Luck Changes for the Better on Saturday

Downers Grove South can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They were the clear victors by an 11-4 margin over the Willowbrook Warriors. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.

Morgan Hahn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Danielle Carson was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Addison Yurchak was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Downers Grove South was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .378. They are 13-4 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Downers Grove South's victory bumped their record up to 15-17. As for Willowbrook, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-15 record this season.

Downers Grove South does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Willowbrook, they will take on Mother McAuley at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mighty Macs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed eight runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of.
