Morro Bay is 2-8 against Templeton since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Pirates will venture away from home to square off against the Eagles at 7:15 p.m. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 878 yards in their previous games.
On Friday, Morro Bay came up short against Cabrillo and fell 28-21.

Despite the loss, Morro Bay got top-tier performance from Sands Dougherty, who threw for 325 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 86.4% of his passes, and also rushed for 90 yards and one score. Dougherty's passing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 325 passing yards. Anthony Campanario was Dougherty's top target, picking up 102 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.
Even if they lost, Morro Bay's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Radden Batalla was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself.
Meanwhile, while Templeton put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Santa Maria. The Eagles simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Saints 56-0. That looming 56-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Eagles yet this season.
This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Armando Soto and Tyler Cunningham. Soto rushed for 84 yards and three touchdowns on only six carries while Cunningham gained 136 total yards and two touchdowns. Colby Sims also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.
Templeton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 327 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Templeton, racking up 14 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Sims, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
The victory (which was Templeton's fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.0 points on average over those games. As for Morro Bay, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Morro Bay has been unstoppable in the air this season, having averaged 358.5 passing yards per game. It's a different story for Templeton, though, as they've been averaging only 149.5 passing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant passing game?
Morro Bay couldn't quite get it done against Templeton in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 as they fell 41-30. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
