The Copley Indians will take on the Barberton Magics at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Copley has three straight victories, Barberton has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
If Copley beats Barberton with 49 points on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Indians simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Cuyahoga Falls 49-0. Considering the Indians have won five contests by more than 22 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Copley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dane Wininger, who threw for 210 yards and four touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes. Wininger's passing game has become a key predictor of the Indians' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. Another pass catcher making a difference was Andrew McKnight, who picked up 112 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
Another reason for the win was Copley's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Justin Chatmon was especially locked on to Cuyahoga Falls' QB and sacked him twice. Chatmon has been hot recently, having posted at least one sack the last three times he's played. Hendrix Sickels was another major factor on D, making 15 total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Special teams played a big role in the game for Copley, adding 13 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Bryce Martin, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Barberton lost to Revere at home by a 38-21 margin on Friday.
Barberton's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Copley, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
Copley took their win against Barberton in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 48-27 score. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Magics' Mark Tavanello, who rushed for 188 yards and three TDs. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Indians still be able to contain Tavanello? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
