Waynesfield-Goshen is 1-7 against Elgin since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Tigers will challenge the Comets at 5:00 p.m. Waynesfield-Goshen knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Elgin likes a good challenge.
Waynesfield-Goshen came out on top against Cory-Rawson on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Tigers put the hurt on the Fighting Hornets with a sharp 10-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Fighting Hornets: they've now won three in a row.

Tarynn Vorhes made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abbi Brown, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Arya Sneary, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Elgin came up short against Marion Harding on Friday, falling 16-10. The Comets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Maycee Muselin made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracelyn Edmonstone, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.
Waynesfield-Goshen pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Elgin, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.
Elgin's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Waynesfield-Goshen has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .458. It's a different story for Elgin, though, as they've only averaged .338. Will they be able to contain Waynesfield-Goshen's hitters?
Waynesfield-Goshen took their victory against Elgin when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
