The Franklin Wildcats waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They walked away with a 62-50 victory over Wilmington. That's another feather in the cap for Franklin, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Kai Cook was his usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Franklin's points. Jason Sroufe was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Franklin's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points per game. As for Wilmington, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Franklin will square off against Valley View at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday. Valley View is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for Wilmington, they will head out on the road to square off against Goshen at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Goshen presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Wilmington in Ohio (Goshen is ranked 77th, while Wilmington is ranked 558th).
