Basketball Recap: Lockland Comes Up Short

Lockland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were dealt a 57-27 loss at the hands of the Cincinnati Christian Cougars. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 54-28 back in November of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Lockland saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Princes Webster dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards. Webster has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 19 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Amyiah Jefferson, who posted five points.

Even though they lost, Lockland smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cincinnati Christian only pulled down 12 offensive boards.

Cincinnati Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Savannah Johnson, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. That's the most boards Johnson has posted since back in November of 2024. Rachel Mullins was another key player, going 5 for 10 on her way to 12 points and five rebounds.

Lockland's loss dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Cincinnati Christian, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lockland has already played their next contest (against New Miami), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Cincinnati Christian will take on Seven Hills at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Cincinnati Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.2 points per game this season.
