Calvert has gone a perfect 10-0 against St. Joseph Central Catholic recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Senecas will square off against the Crimson Streaks at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Calvert has eight straight wins, St. Joseph Central Catholic has 12 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Calvert had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Gibsonburg on Wednesday. The Senecas blew past the Golden Bears 13-3. The Senecas might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.

Logan Ritzler made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Ritzler wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Connor Moyer, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Moyer a new career-high.
Old Fort hit St. Joseph Central Catholic with a four-run seventh inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Crimson Streaks came up short against the Stockaders, falling 12-1.
Calvert pushed their record up to 11-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for St. Joseph Central Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 0-11.
Calvert's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's matchup. The Senecas have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.5 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for St. Joseph Central Catholic, though, as they've been averaging only 1.4 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Calvert continue to outrun the ball?
Everything went Calvert's way against St. Joseph Central Catholic in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Calvert made off with a 9-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Senecas since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
