Basketball Recap: Plainfield Skates Past Franklin Community with Ease

Plainfield had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They took their match with ease, bagging a 73-44 win over the Franklin Community Grizzly Cubs. The Quakers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 21 points or more this season.

Plainfield's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Berkeley Williams, who went 5 of 9 en route to 17 points along with five assists and three steals. That's the most assists Williams has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Abrielle Dugan, who went 6 for 10 on her way to 17 points and five boards.

Plainfield is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Franklin Community, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-13.

Plainfield will host Franklin Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Plainfield has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Franklin Community, they will face off against Seymour at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
