The Pungo Christian Academy Raiders will venture away from home to face off against the Halifax Academy Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Pungo Christian Academy's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Halifax Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
On Thursday, Pungo Christian Academy came up short against Ridgecroft and fell 6-3.
Pungo Christian Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Parker Byrd, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Carr Eagles was another, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, the third road contest was the charm for Halifax Academy, as they earned their first away victory of the season. They came out on top against Kerr-Vance Academy by a score of 6-2 on Tuesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Vikings as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Landon Peoples was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. He has become a key player for Halifax Academy: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 0-3 otherwise. Peoples was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Connor Hammack was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Oliver Anderson, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.
Halifax Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Halifax Academy's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-4. As for Pungo Christian Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.
Pungo Christian Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Halifax Academy in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, sneaking past 10-8. Will Pungo Christian Academy repeat their success, or does Halifax Academy has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
