Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Holmes County's Eighth in Last Ten Outings

It's playoff time, and Holmes County had no trouble coming through when it counted. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Bethlehem Wildcats on Tuesday. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by seven runs or more this season.

Kiersten Womble was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Carlie Whitfield was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Holmes County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .714. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Holmes County has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Bethlehem, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Holmes County will square off against Chipley at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Blue Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 10.8 runs per game this season. Bethlehem does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
